Wiring harness kits for security/start.

Big Daddy
So I have this truck with manual everything. Since it will be not parked in a heated garage I would like to possibly put remote start on it, I'd also like keyless entry, I don't mind rolling down my window but I really miss keyless entry.

Logic leads me to a security system that has these features, I don't need fort-knox security so I'll probably go with less features and a good brand.

So the question I have is: Do they have install kits that are harness based so that I can just un-clip some harnesses, clip in a "T," wire up the alarm, and rock on.

My last security install, when I was MUCH younger and ambitious, took forever and almost made me suicidal. I don't trust shops to not fuck it up, I KNOW they will use a shitty splice and one day I will turn the key and nothing will happen. What about the damn key transponder that even this most basic truck has?

Born-again-NOOB.

No plug and play alarm harnesses that I know of. Trust me, if there was, I'd know about them!

What year, make is the truck?

Chad asked this question on another forum and you're the first person I thought of when I read his post. I figured you'd be the one who'd know how to handle what he wants to do. :)

I mean, I CAN cut/solder/shrink... And it's no honda, there's space for my bigass... It's just me looking for an easy/reversible route.

I just want remote entry and start, don't think I'm gonna put an aftermarket ECU on this 4.3L with an open rear end.

Those trucks are stupid simple to work on. I use DEI products, so, you'd need a DBALL bypass module for the pass lock system. That's a one wire hook up at the OBD plug. Putting aftermarket actuators in the doors are easy too. Python alarm/remote start systems can be had for not a lot of money and are solid units. I had one in the Civic for 4 years and never even changed the remote battery.

This is what I'd recommend. That price shown is retail installed price. The unit can be found for under $200.

The bypass module I'd recommend.

You will also need a couple of door lock actuators http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_75596_Directed-524T.html

Notes:
NOTE: This vehicle has the passlock II immobilizer system that, when adding a remote start, must be interfaced with. Use DEI part 555t or 555L. The passlock II wire colors are yellow, black, and red/white (not used). *1 The BCM (Body Control Module) is under the driver side dash. *2 If Directed module part #456G is not available, refer to directfax document #1601. On base model trucks the lock wire is lt. blue (-) and unlock wire is white (-). They are in the lt. blue plug at the BCM. *3 On base model trucks the door trigger wires are in the lt. blue plug at the BCM. On 4dr trucks the LR door trigger is lt. blue/black, and the RR is lt. green/black. They are in the purple plug at the BCM. Use all wires and diode isolate.
