@;Hey guys, my name is Jacob, and have been a member on DIYMA for years under the same username. I plan to document my full build log here. As stated, this is a 2016 Ford Explorer Platinum, which means it came with Sync2 (MyFordTouch) so I decided to do an upgrade. I chose to replace the screen with a slightly larger 8.4” HD display from the base model Sync4 system, and swapped the APIM to make it Sync3 and have Apple Car Play. This will be the primary source. This install is being done by my self, and Mark Worrel in Pineville, NC at Audio Masters.

As with any automotive enthusiast, there are a few things that need to be done as soon as you get a new vehicle, and this is no different. I had the windows tinted with Xpell Ceramic tint, replaced all exterior lights with LED (except for brake lights and turn signals), upgraded the radio, and a full paint correction and ceramic coating will be coming very soon. But lets get on to the main focus here, the Audio!

Sources:
Factory sync3 to the PAC AP4, and a secondary source which will bypass the radio all together to run digital coax straight into the DSP via iPhone and Apple Music.

Front Stage:
tweeters: factory/factory ish location: Xcellsus XXT30’s.
Midrange: Focal Utopia 3.5wm
midbass: Stereo Integrity TM8

Sub Stage: undecided. I have available a pair of AE SBP12’s, a single Stereo Integrity SQL15, and a pair of BM MkV’s. I am wanting to keep as much useable space available as possible, so I will most likely be running the pair of BM MkV’s in the spare tire well, but we will see how it plays out.

Amps/Processor:
a pair of Helix M6’s will temporarily run the entire system. But will bridge four channels to temporarily power the sub/subs. The reason for this, is in my last build, I was using a Zapco St850 that did not have a defeatable crossover, and I believe having a double crossover is the main cause of my sub being able to lock in upfront. So I will be running a test with the M6 on the sub to see if that is the case. Processing will be handled by a Mini DSP 8x12DL.

That is the basic rundown of the system. For whatever reason, I am not able to post pictures from my phone, so I will update this evening with pictures. I have already completed the sound deadening, so all of those pictures will be uploaded as well.
