wonder what's special about the v6 version vs. the v8
Dunno does the V8 have a different alternator? Is it in a different place on the motor? Ours is down low on the left as you look at it. It was mentioned that the failure was and overheating diode in (presumably) the rectifier.
It smells like hell when it goes, I'll tell you that much.
don't recall the amps at the moment, but it is low on the left. The recall link only mentioned 3.6L engines, which made me curious.
The recall is for the 160 amp alternator. From what I found, the v8 and v6 alts are two different part numbers. The v6 alt bolts directly to the block, as do the rest of the accessories.
Got the letter in the mail today saying more or less....
Your shit has been recalled, we don't have the shit to properly fix it, if you have spent any money on this bullshit then send us your receipt and we will slip you the greenbacks. We will contact you with more information, keep your tits calm.
Wife was off work today, got the letter and within an hour the copies of the receipts were in the mail... I was kinda hoping that they would hook us up with a nice dinner since we missed a rather fine dining experience while I was PUSHING A BOAT into a dealership in ALABAMA in FUCKING LATE JULY.
I got my letter, too.
I forgot to add that very early this month or late last month we got our recall notice....
