Queef is hell bent on trolling me since the rearfill fiasco where he lost his shit after I said I had no plans on trying it in my truck at this time. He also thinks I have an unused processor that will do time alignment in a Jeep but not in a Ram:rolleyes:Also something about him thinking Al made a mistake putting that badass 18" in his truck instead of a pair of 12's.
My research showed the Elac debut to be my safest bet without spending a fortune so I bit and glad I did. If the woofers and tweets in these things are turds Andrew did a great job polishing them:woohoo:I'm going to diy the sub with a good plate amp since I have an IDQ here that I love and want to put back in service but can see myself getting a center, sides, and rears from the debut 2.0 series within the next year. That's when the line goes on sale again;)

Yep. You can't go wrong with someone of Andrew Jones reputation and history. I always wondered how the Elac's sound.

The ones I got are really easy to listen to and pretty detailed too. I did run the Audyssey in the Denon and it made a pretty big difference as far as room correction goes. Top end is smooth and transients are fast. Just using the internal amp in the Denon that I think does 160rms on each at 6 ohms. Could be TOTALLY wrong there since I'm going by memory. I'm pretty happy with the sound and like I said just need to get the sub project done this Spring. I honestly wonder how the Andrew Jones Pioneer towers that seem similar for less than half the price compare. I heard he had better transducers to work with in the Elac Debut stuff but figure the general idea should be similar.
Re: Bang for the buck TOWER speakers
My only experience with ELAC is that I ordered a set of their UB5's a few years back. I was interested namely in the coincident driver because Andrew Jones was/is known for his coincident driver designs with both Kef and the Pioneer TAD line. I got them in and one of the mids had a dented cone and also had a 'discolored' cone. Apparently there was a bad batch made in their initial runs and I got hosed. I sent them back and decided to wait them out but never got another pair again. That said, I've read a lot of good things about ELAC products since then; namely their price vs performance.
Chris, you might want to take a look at this link and see what this guy did to play with the tweeter response. These are the bookshelf version but the same ideas may be beneficial/useful to you.

Re: Bang for the buck TOWER speakers
Thanks Erin. Yeah while I feel the top end is pretty smooth I do feel that tweeter could be tamed a little. Letting them "burn in" for a while to see if it helps the response or if I just get used to them, lol. Sucks you got hosed on the concentrics. I hear those are pretty nice speakers.

I apologize HillbillySQ , it's that time of the month for me . I'm still upset by the election .

Why not buy these and return them to where you got the other ones and take leftover money and do sub or surrounds ?
Re: Bang for the buck TOWER speakers
Maybe because some of us don't care to buy from a Chinese company and they could potentially be knock off or built with sub-par components.

If you decide to use "Elac" get the handmade ones .
Re: Bang for the buck TOWER speakers
you don't get it. Items sold in the USA will have a standard to be met that the US company would expect and have the China factory adhere to. That same item sold in China won't necessarily be the same product, even if it is from the same company and not a knock off.
