Re: The Installation Hall of Shame
Now I don't feel so bad about my wiring job.

Re: The Installation Hall of Shame
Hey, those hoodpins are damn effective!
This thread will be helpful in showing me what not to do.

Re: The Installation Hall of Shame
I actually picked up a few pointers. Had no idea ground wires could be run with twisted 18ga wire.

Re: The Installation Hall of Shame
The foam was all that held the speaker in the box. No screws needed.

Geez Louise. And I thought my early work was bad. Wow!
Love the melted fuse holder. Guessing it was still hooked to the battery too?
-
Re: The Installation Hall of Shame
I'm sure Audio Control would be thrilled to see one of there products used in sure a stellar build.
-
Re: The Installation Hall of Shame
I've never seen a fuse holder melt quite that bad before. You can see where it was on fire. It turned the fender to gray. I couldn't get it to come loose either. So it's still there. Lol.
Now the Civic is the roommate of a long time customer. They paid $600 for that "install". 😔

Re: The Installation Hall of Shame
Guilty of the hot-glue tweeter. But they are neo, tiny, made over by mad trimming to fit IN a hole flush.....
Stock class baby.

How about a hammer and chisel?
That stuff is scary.

Hammer and chisel wouldn't budge it. I gave it 3-4 good wacks and decided it would be best to just leave it there.

I've seen some pretty major melt downs in 20 years, but nothing even close to that. I still find it funny that the owner said he never saw any smoke.........

Re: The Installation Hall of Shame
It's hard to distinguish fuse holder smoke from the cloud that normally pours out from under the hood of a Honda Civic :)
I keed... I keed

Re: The Installation Hall of Shame
He learn that in his automotive welding class ?

Other than the wheels, my Civic is bone stock. But I completely understand what you're saying. Lol. I had to look for a long time for a unmolested one.

That alarm wiring job looks about as good as the wire management in a couple of the "professionally" built gaming PC's I've had to fix...good luck.

Those are the factory rear speaker wires that they have/had hooked up to the MTX/Sony box.

Re: The Installation Hall of Shame
Well I'll take my credit back then.

Re: The Installation Hall of Shame
That's amazingly awesome. Damn you seem to find all of the winners Jason! hahaha I love the MTKicky subwoofer setup. A little MTX, Kicker and Sony love.
